What is a cooldown period and why can't I send crypto to an external wallet yet?

In this article, you'll read what a cooldown period is at Coinmerce and how it affects your account after registration.

A cooldown period is a temporary 24-hour safety window that automatically starts after you verify your bank account. In compliance with European standards (MiCAR and AML/CTF directives), this initial monitoring phase ensures platform security and protects users against unauthorized or fraudulent activity.

How this affects your account:

  • Allowed: You can immediately deposit funds, buy, sell, and trade crypto within the platform.

  • Restricted: Withdrawing or sending crypto to an external wallet is temporarily disabled during these first 24 hours.

Once the 24-hour period has elapsed, withdrawal functionality to external wallets will automatically be enabled.
