Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an essential security method that adds an extra layer of protection to your Coinmerce account. In addition to your password, you will need a unique, temporary code from a special app to log in or perform important actions. In this article, we explain step-by-step how to set this up via the app.
Step 1: Go to your security settings
Open the Coinmerce app and tap the 'Account' button in the bottom right of the navigation bar.
In the menu that appears, choose the option 'Security'.
Step 2: Enable 2FA security
In the security overview, look for the option 'Two-factor security 2FA'. Tap the toggle on the right to start the activation process.
Step 3: Connect an authentication app
A pop-up will appear saying 'Activate 2FA'. To proceed, you must have an app like Google Authenticator or Authy installed on your phone. Tap the blue button 'Open 2FA app'.
Important tip: During this step, you will often see a 'secret recovery key'. Write this code down and store it in a safe, offline place. This allows you to regain access to your account if you lose your phone or get a new device.
Step 4: Enter the 2FA code
Open your chosen authentication app and copy the 6-digit code generated specifically for Coinmerce. Go back to the Coinmerce app. You can type the code manually or tap the blue button 'Paste code' to place the copied code directly into the boxes.
Step 5: Verify and complete activation
Check that the code is entered correctly and tap the large blue button 'Verify'. You will now receive a confirmation that 2FA has been successfully enabled on your account.
